Most of the people are unknowing of the fact that the fly ash can be used in many productive purposes. Globally it is being used since many years. There are some environmental issues are also comes up with the liberation of fly ash into the atmosphere. It is now being take from chimneys of power plants and can be useful in many purposes.
Uses of Fly Ash
It is residuary product acquired from burning of coal. And this product has huge uses in multiple fields. However, many researches are being done on the productive uses of fly ash, some of the uses consist of -
→ Bricks – It is used to make fly ash bricks which is environment friendly. These fly ash bricks are comparatively better than clay bricks as it is powerful and durable. Conventional bricks are formed by using huge amount of clay where these fly ash bricks can be manufactured from the residue comes from thermal power plants. This will be helpful in saving environment and depletion of soil.
→ Concrete – Fly ash can be mixed with concrete to provide high tensile strength and durability. It is very useful in construction processes as it gives strength to buildings.
→ Agriculture – Fly ash used in agricultural field helps to enhance the fertility of the soil. It is thus best ti increase the soil intake of nutrients and water. Soil reserve the content of moisture in it. The direct contact of fly ash with soil will decontaminate the soil and diminish the toxic substances present in it. It is thus suitable for plants like oil-seeds, sunflower, linseed, groundnut and so on.
→ Fill material – It can be used for developing playgrounds , parks , parking lots. It is having a self- hardening properties which makes it useful for filling purposes.
→ Roads Construction – It is useful in roads construction which ultimately saves soil which is rather than dig out and used in construction purposes. Fly ash is then saves agricultural soil used for cultivation uses.
→ Tiles – These are used to make mosaic tiles with beautiful designs and colors. It can further be used to form paving blocks and interlocking pavers. This residual product used is stronger than conventional mosaic tiles.
