The most common threat in school and residential buildings is Fire. It may effect great devastation to life and property. To extinguish fire, many residential buildings, hotels etc uses different types of fire fighting system. Some detection and protection systems can be installed to minimize the hazardous effects at homes and residential buildings. The safeguard systems save lives and property earlier than the danger occurs and by that provide easy clearing of people from the building.

For homes safety, suppression systems can be installed in order to prevents the flames from widening and destroying life and property. So it is important to understand the different types of suppression systems used to extinguish the fire. Different type of element are used to act on different types of flames.

Types of Fire-Fighting Systems :


 Few most commonly used fire fighting systems used to extinguish fire are discussed below. It is required to select wisely to prevent further dangers and accidents.

Foam Suppression

This fire fighting system is used to blow out flames caused because of the burning of paper, wood or any other solid material. It can be useful to extinguish the flames occurs due to oil and petrol. Although it can be used rarely to smoother the flames occur due to short circuit.

Water Suppression

It is commonly used suppression using water. It is usually installed at homes and residential buildings in order to extinguish smoke and flames. It is mostly available in the form of sprays and sprinkles. It can be installed on the roofs of the buildings and homes and never ever kept near electrical appliances.

Inergen Suppression

It is recognized as clean agent and is widely used to extinguish electrical flames. It is usually set up in IT firms and offices.

Gas Suppression

This fire fighting system consists of carbon dioxide. It can be drizzle directly on the flames to extinguish it. It is treated as the best extinguisher as it can be used to blaze caused by electrical appliances.

Other Domestic Suppression System

Fire alarm system is the commonly used systems which can be installed in most of the houses and residential buildings to discover blaze and gas. These fire fighting systems are very effective in discovering any change occurs in an environment which include rise in atmospheric temperature , presence of fog , blazes, heat and so on.
